Shaped by Simplification
Friday Finance strives for simplicity above all else. For the past two years, we have learned with users and evolved our understanding of what the ideal finance management platform should be like. Thousands of companies have gone through our app, leaving precious feedback and usage cues that were translated into the new user experience we are now unveiling.
Aimed to simplify the app's most important flows and provide a stellar user journey. This new generation of our app strengthens our claim as being - by far - the most user-friendly and effective finance management platform out there.
Our latest updates, though visually striking, are not a complete reconstruction, but rather a further step in our product story. The new version of the app is based on three pillars:
- Standardizing the Friday Finance design system
- Rethinking and improving user flows in each feature
- Cementing quality over quantity at the core of the platform
A Unified Design
Friday Finance embodies relief. We are a software designed to remove the burden of the heavy, dull, financial tasks that demand significant time and effort every month. As such, a simple and intuitive experience is indispensable.
Therefore, our new brand ensures that all Friday Finance features speak in unison. The choice of colours, fonts, and shapes was dictated to increase brightness and contrast while facilitating the consumption of data tables, charts and metrics at all times.
Visual standardization will also have a fundamental impact on the way our tech team works. Product designers and engineers now have unblocked creation flows knowing the visual guidelines they must follow. This allows for much quicker development and an overall patterning throughout Friday Finance that makes us look solid in every tiny detail.

Improved User Flows
The next generation of Friday Finance is about improving user experience through more intuitive and automated workflows, as this is at the very heart of our value proposition and market positioning.
Over time, we have been able to define which are the most common usage journeys in the platform and, from there, through research, testing and many rounds of optimization, find better ways for the user to achieve their goals. Combined with our expert knowledge of business accounts, accounting preparation, cash flow management, and financial reporting, we have designed a platform with the routine needs of present-day startups and SMBs at the very centre.
Several user flows were improved within the software:
- The feature functionalities are much more adapted to users' actual needs.
The most prominent example is the all-new Accounting tab, which substitutes the Bills tab. Invoices on Friday Finance are now filtered in paid or unpaid, reconciled or not. There is also a whole new section in which transactions without bills are displayed that lets our users know what l is missing and what needs to be paid. Finally, you can generate your exports in your preferred file format or send the documents straight to your accounting software.
- The onboarding process now helps the user tailor the experiences of the app to their needs and personalize their Account Management assistance.
Based on their selections in the onboarding flow, we will customize the steps they need to take to fully incorporate the features that will add value to their unique workflows. This welcoming survey will also be pivotal for Account Managers to know precisely how to reach the most effective resolution for every individual.
- The revamped UX is future-proof.
This gives the customer an idea of what to expect next (Cards and DATEV integration being first in line) and manoeuvre space for our tech teams to develop from open gaps instead of staking new functionalities on top of what we have.
Quality Over Quantity
Finances must be dealt with with the utmost safety and attention to detail. Friday Finance is now entering a new chapter in its quality assurance, with next-level stability and bug solution speed.
One of the most exciting attributes of the new version is the automated end-to-end testing implemented by our tech team. Every time an upgrade or fix is done, all of the most important flows within the app are automatically tested. This means we will significantly reduce the risk of new code breaking old functionality.
Whether the explanation seems rather vague, the result is easily tangible: reliability.
First, such a change massively reduces the number of bugs reaching the user, thus improving the overall experience.
Second, from now on, our QA engineers can shift the whole nature of their functions. Instead of running after and manually fixing pre-existing issues in the software, as the flow is now automated and preventing these bugs, they can focus on more sophisticated business logic testing. The tech team will finally be able to focus more on proactively improving the platform instead of reactively searching for malfunctions.
The Next Generation of Friday Finance
With this new version, Friday Finance is more productive, less prone to bugs, and has the foundation laid to expand into all features we have on our roadmap.
Over the past two years, we have evidenced that we can be the interface of choice for finance executives regarding their financial workflows. Recently, we decided to escalate these successes with native business accounts, moving towards becoming not just the preferred finance management, but also a banking partner to our customers:
Payments through cards and our business accounts are becoming an integral part of our solution. Users simplify their internal operations through our one-click payment flows for bills, and ready-to-use company cards, which are launching shortly.
On our roadmap, the next steps include integrations with accounting software like DATEV, and the possibility of realizing bulk payments with a single authorization, a valuable tool for businesses that manage long supplier lists or payrolls.
